The Pat Doherty Memorial Fund for Continuing Education
Established by her family in memory of longtime Network volunteer and supporter Pat Doherty, this fund will assist Network’s neighbors with education and training needs to increase their job prospects and longer-term career development.
In setting up this tribute, Pat’s family wanted to recognize both her extensive contribution of time and talent to Network as well as her passion for empowering Network’s neighbors to move beyond their current situation.
“Mom had a servant’s soul. She reached out in many ways to help those in need and the neighbors she encountered. She most valued teaching, inspiring, learning, and empowering people to improve themselves.” — Colleen Askew, Pat’s Daughter
During her lifetime, Pat donated over 3,000 hours of service over 30 plus years as a volunteer in Network’s reception area, helping with intake and processing of individuals coming for assistance. To this day, the role of volunteers in this area is crucial, allowing Network to efficiently address the needs of incoming families.
“Pat’s selfless dedication to Network’s mission has impacted countless neighbors as they sought an improved quality of life,” said Network CEO Abbie Kauffman. “We are grateful for her commitment to our organization and honored to memorialize her legacy of service through this fund.”
